Covid-19 Updates

COVID and Infectious Disease Prevention Guidelines

1. We encourage all participants - instructors, students/players, volunteer coaches and staff - to stay up-to-date on  vaccinations.

2. We ask that instructors, students/players, volunteer coaches and staff stay home when sick.

3. We provide ample ventilation in classrooms, gymnasium and common spaces.

4. We teach and promote hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette.

5. We provide daily cleaning and sanitizing of all facilities used by children.

6. We promote equity in learning and health. The use of masks on a daily basis will be optional for employees, volunteer coaches and children (over the age of two), except in the event of a positive test result.

7. When an instructor, student/player, volunteer coach or staff member tests positive for COVID (this also applies to influenza), we will follow the current CDC guidelines. We will notify parents and staff of the positive test. We will require instructors, students/players, volunteer coaches and staff who test positive to isolate at home for five days from the first day symptoms began. He or she may return to activities on day 6, if fever free for 24 hours. However, from day 6 to day 10, any students (over age 2), and any employees and/or volunteers who have tested positive will be required to wear a mask.

8. When an instructor, student/player, volunteer coach or staff member has been exposed to COVID but does not have symptoms - fever, cough, etc, or a positive COVID test, he or she does not need to isolate. However, because you can be contagious before you have symptoms, and because you can still become symptomatic up to ten days after exposure, we urge all instructors, students/players (over the age of 2), and any employee and/or volunteer to wear a N95 mask after exposure for ten days. While the greatest risk for illness after exposure is within the first five days, it is still possible to become symptomatic up to ten days after exposure.

We appreciate your support of these guidelines as we work together to provide a safe and healthy environment for all those who participate in Northside Church Sports & Recreation Ministries. For questions or concerns, please contact our Sports & Recreation Director, Kelley Stonis at KelleyS@northsideumc.org.
